Ηγούνται των nominations τα Alan Wake 2 και Baldur's Gate 3.

Ο Geoff Keighley εμφανίστηκε στο Peacock Theater του Los Angeles ώστε να ανακοινώσει όλους τους υποψήφιους των The Game Awards ανά κατηγορία! Εννοείται πως διανύουμε ίσως την πιο "καυτή" gaming χρονιά όλων των εποχών, οπότε είχε ενδιαφέρουν να δούμε πως τόσα πολλά top-class βιντεοπαιχνίδια θα μπορέσουν να χωρέσουν στις επιμέρους κατηγορίες βράβευσης και φυσικά στην 6-άδα του GOTY. Οι επιλαχόντες για τη διεκδίκηση του μεγάλου βραβείου δεν μας προκαλούν καμία εντύπωση, αυτό δεν σημαίνει όμως πως και πάλι δεν υπήρχαν αρκετά games και devs που θα νιώσουν... αδικημένοι.

Τα games που θα παλέψουν για τον απόλυτο τίτλο του Game of the Year είναι τα:
- Alan Wake 2
- Baldur's Gate 3
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2
- Resident Evil 4
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Εννοείται πως όλοι οι παραπάνω αξίζουν να βρίσκονται εκεί, όμως δεν μπορούμε να αγνοήσουμε τις απουσίες αρκετών critically-acclaimed παιχνίδαρων της χρονιάς, όπως τα Final Fantasy XVI, Diablo IV, Street Fighter 6, Starfield και Hi-Fi RUSH, ενώ μετά από χρόνια δεν υπάρχει κανένα indie στη λίστα. Πολύ κρίμα για τα Sea of Stars, Cocoon και όλα τα μικρά games που έπεσαν σε αυτή την περίσταση...

Των υποψηφιοτήτων ηγούνται τα Alan Wake 2 και Baldur's Gate 3 με 8 έκαστο, το Marvel's Spider-Man 2 έχει 7, ενώ από 5 έχουν τα Hi-Fi RUSH, Super Mario Bros. Wonder και The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
